Richard Andreano, Jr., is a Practice Leader of the Mortgage Banking Group at Ballard Spahr and a member of the Consumer Financial Services Group. He has devoted more than 30 years of practice to financial services, mortgage banking, and consumer finance law. Andreano advises the mortgage and settlement service industries on regulatory compliance and related matters, including issues concerning the Dodd-Frank Act, RESPA, TILA, Fair Housing Act, FCRA (including FACTA), HMDA, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

He assists clients with preparing for and handling CFPB examinations and with regulatory issues, including implementation of the CFPB TILA/RESPA Integrated (TRID) disclosure rule, the CFPB revisions to the HMDA rules, and compliance with the CFPB ability to repay, loan originator compensation, appraisal, escrow and servicing rules. Michael Kieval represents companies in the financial services and mortgage industries nationwide in state and federal litigation and government investigations. In addition to providing regulatory compliance advice to clients large and small, Kieval’s practice includes general business and commercial litigation, including contract and insurance disputes, and defending consumer class actions, suits under state consumer protection statutes, and claims under other federal statutes, including RESPA, TILA, FCRA, the FDCPA, and the False Claims Act.

Prior to joining the firm, Kieval was an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of a large global law firm, where he represented clients in complex litigation, appeals and internal investigation, specializing in litigation related to arbitration.
