Margaret Cook is Deputy General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Alliant National Title Insurance Company. Ms. Cook has worked in the title insurance industry since 1996, formerly serving as Chief Claims Counsel for a national title insurer, and as Regional Underwriting Counsel. She is a Past-President of the Land Title Association of Colorado, and Past-Chair of the Colorado Title Advisory Council. She serves on the Title Standards Committee for the Colorado Bar Association, and the Legislative Affairs Committee and the Education Committee for the Land Title Association of Colorado. She has been a featured speaker at seminars held by the American Land Title Association, the Land Title Association of Colorado, the Idaho Land Title Association, the Illinois Land Title Association, the Colorado Certified Closers Association, and the National Business Institute.
American Land Title Association (ALTA)
Steve is counsel for the American Land Title Association. In that role he is the associations chief corporate counsel providing strategic legal advice to the association’s leadership, executive staff and various departments and programs. Additionally, Steve serves as the head of public policy development for the association. He is a recognized authority on the topics of consumer financial laws including RESPA, TILA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley, the ALTA Title Insurance & Settlement Company Best Practices and market conditions in the title insurance and settlement service industry.
Previously Steve worked as legal fellow for former Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) on the Senate Banking Committee during the passage of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (TARP), and a small community based lender. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park and the University Of Maryland School Of Law.
