Marx David Sterbcow is recognized nationally as a legal authority in the real estate settlement services industry. Marx’s practice focuses on RESPA, TILA, Regulation Z, RICO, federal and state mortgage lending, title insurance, real estate brokerage, home warranty and consumer credit compliance issues, affiliated business arrangements guidance, and marketing and promotional program guidance. He also litigates matters involving mortgage fraud and RESPA.
Marx graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science, Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, with a J.D., and the John Marshall School of Law’s Center for Real Estate Law in Chicago, Illinois, with an LLM.
Marx represented the National Association of Mortgage Brokers in its efforts to challenge the Federal Reserve Board on its Regulation Z loan officer compensation rule. He serves on the Regulatory & Policy Committee for the Real Estate Services Providers Council (RESPRO) and is active in the Louisiana Land Title Association, New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Title Attorneys and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Chuck Cain is senior vice president, agency manager, Midwest, for WFG National Title Insurance Co. Chuck has been in the title insurance industry since 1977. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Kentucky, several federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He is former chair of the Real Property section of the Cincinnati Bar Association, a former director of the Cincinnati Mortgage Banker’s Association and a recipient of a special citation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development concerning Fair Housing Best Practices.
A native Cincinnatian, Chuck has been a licensed title insurance agent for over 25 years and was an owner-operator of his own agency for 18 years. He has spoken before the American Land Title Association, Ohio Land Title Association, the Indiana Land Title Association, the Michigan Land Title Association, the Missouri Land Title Association, RESPRO, the National Settlement Services Summit, Title Radio, and numerous other groups and classes on the topic of title insurance and compliance. He is also the president of consulting firm Alliance Solutions, LLC.

Nathan Marinchick is editor of Dodd Frank Update, which was launched in early 2011 to provide daily updates on the avalanche of regulations, opinion papers, Congressional hearings and case law that has emerged in the wake of the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act in 2010.
A veteran journalist, Marinchick spent nearly a decade as a reporter and anchor in the Cleveland, Ohio, radio news market before joining October Research in March 2011. His reporting spanned government, industry and pop culture.
