Michael Robinson, SRA, IFA, RAA
AQB Certified USPAP Instructor
Hearthstone Appraisal, PLLC
Mike entered the appraisal profession in 1983 when the aerospace industry was contracting and he was laid off from his Engineering Teck position. With the exception of taking 3 years off to teach science in the public schools, he has worked as a Real Estate Appraiser. When he left teaching in the public schools in 1989, he was tapped by a local college to develop and teach Appraisal courses in the business department. This led to an offer to do the same in another area college, and ultimately take on developing course work and teaching nationally. When there was a downturn in the industry, Mike opened his own appraisal school in an attempt to keep classroom instruction alive. Well we all know where the paradigm shift has taken us to today.
Mike started training appraisers in the field in early 1990 and over the years has trained over 20 appraisers. As the profession and the industry changed, it became increasingly difficult to take on trainees and the great recession put a hold on his ability to train new appraisers. That changed early last year as the industry exited the great recession and he is now training again.
Mike was appointed to the Washington State Real Estate Appraiser Board/Commission and served for 9 years. He is a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
